Andrey Kaydanovskiy: The Sleeping Beauty
Кайдановский: Спящая красавица
Life in pink isn't always a celebration. The world of glamour is not just a pretty picture — it's also a distorted perception of reality, imposed standards, and hypocrisy.
A young heiress to a family of hedonists who dress in pink and never wear shoes receives a gift from another world on her birthday and embarks on a risky journey of self-discovery. But what kind of world lies beyond the borders of the glamour bubble? Which world is real, and which is just a game of the subconscious? And does any place exist where one is free to be oneself?
Andrey Kaidanovsky's dance piece, loosely inspired by The Sleeping Beauty, is a biting, honest, and spectacular attempt to take a hard look at the modern world — with its pretenses, social divides, and search for personal identity.
